Radioactivity Basics

Did you know that everything and everybody around us is radioactive? Should that concern you? The only way to answer that question for yourself is to get some facts about radiation and radioactivity.

Integrated Environmental Management, Inc. (IEM) has prepared a brief introduction to these concepts.  In this section you can learn what radioactivity is, where it is located, in what units it is measured, what radiation doses are harmful, about measurement methods, and answers to a host of other questions.  We recommend you start with Chapter 1, "Basic Concepts", then work your way down to Chapter 13, "Professional Credentials".  After you finish this brief tutorial, please don't hesitate to "Ask a CHP" if you have additional questions.
