Exempt Quantities & Concentrations
Federal regulators consider certain quantities and concentrations of radioactive materials to be exempt from regulatory authority. In some cases, they reflect the quantity or concentration below which a radioactive materials license for possession is not required. In others they may reflect an exemption from the rules altogether. The most often used exemption amounts have been divided into separate sections.
